SHSAT 2009-2010 - Cut-off Scores
The cut-off scores for Specialized High Schools admission are not officially announced by the NYC Department of Education any time.
Based on the lowest scores of students who got admission into various schools, here are the possible cut-off scores for 2009-2010:
Stuyvesant -- Around 560
Bronx Science -- Around 520
Brooklyn Tech -- Around 480
What should be my "raw" score to get admission into a Specialized High School?
The cutoff scores may be helpful just to know what kind of scores may be required for admission into these schools. They don't indicate what must be your "raw" score for admission.
The formula / system used by the Department of Education to calculate the SHSAT scores (from "raw" scores) is unknown. It's therefore better to prepare for SHSAT with a professional guidance than to do speculative preparation.
Very often, an average student who prepares well for SHSAT with professional guidance gets admission into a Specialized High School than an above average student who takes on the SHSAT any without professional help.
